Our Notre Dame Academy community welcomed  Marilyn A. Tencza, Ed.D. as Principal, in July of  2022.

With her extensive teaching and leadership roles in education, Dr. Tencza brings her love of and commitment to excellence in education to her alma mater. “I am ready to dedicate myself to the important work of leading our vibrant Catholic girls' academy, which is very close to my heart.  As an alum of Notre Dame, my career has come full circle back to this very special and important place. I am thrilled to return and am ready to pursue the next phase of strategic growth aligned with the Hallmarks of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur,” said Dr. Tencza.

With more than 25 years of experience in education, Dr. Tencza has served in the capacities of Superintendent, Curriculum Director, Principal, Assistant Principal, and Teacher. Dr. Tencza has served as Adjunct Faculty at Boston College and Worcester State University, guiding new teachers.  Her experience and success include guiding school accreditations, creating diversity and inclusion initiatives, and overseeing capital projects.

Dr. Tencza brings outstanding values-centered leadership skills, as well as a strong personal and professional commitment to educational excellence, diversity and inclusion, all-girls education, and collaboration.  “I have watched Notre Dame for many years with awe as the faculty and administration have developed creative new initiatives while continuing to challenge the students academically and personally. Now more than ever, girls' schools are needed so that young women can find their voices and develop to their fullest potential. I am honored to bring my experience to add to the successful path underway toward growth and sustainability.  We must promote to the central Massachusetts community that this treasure of Notre Dame is an option of excellence for our young women,” said Dr. Tencza.

Her skills and vision align perfectly with the current and future academic strategic priorities outlined during the Principal search: a visionary leader and institution builder with a deep commitment to our mission and a passion for education; an approachable leader who engages with all constituents in a joyful and mutually respectful manner; and a leader committed to NDA’s core values and principles of social justice, equity and inclusion.

Welcome back, Dr. Tencza, to your Notre Dame Academy!
